POSITION: Menu Planner / Supervisor
Primary Purpose: Monitor and implement the USDA and Texas Dept. of Agriculture policies and regulations at all campuses. Assess, oversee, and provide support to child nutrition service managers and employees. Assist the Child Nutrition Services Director in overseeing operations and production at all campuses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition, Food Service, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or Dietetics preferred.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or RDE preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work effectively with department and district personnel
- Ability to follow instructions, plan, organize, and prioritize work tasks
- Ability to maintain control under stress
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- General knowledge of computer systems and software applications, Primero Edge
- Ability to lift, transport, and position up to 40 pounds
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred but not required
Experience:
- Minimum three years of work food service experience; internship may substitute for experience
- SALARY / WORK DAYS: Salary dependent upon education, certification, and experience; will be on a minimum of 226-day annual work schedule
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor and implement the United States Department of Agriculture and the Texas Department of Agriculture policies and regulations at all campuses.
- Ensure compliance with local and state Health Department requirements
- Travel to schools daily to oversee all operation and production
- Evaluate kitchen operation including but not limited to, kitchen flow, product quality, work schedules and personnel
- Assess, oversee, and provide support to managers and employees
- Train new employees
- Develop and encourage growth and development of managers and employees
- Develop and implement training modules as needed
- Attend and participate in staff meetings with the district
- Attend and participate in meetings with the region and state
- Monitor, coordinate, and maintain appropriate records for students with special dietary needs
- Develop and promote nutrition education activities within the district
- Develop and coordinate marketing promotions
- Plan menus according to the USDA and TDA guidelines
- Assist with purchasing and grocery orders
- Review production records and other federal required paperwork
- Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nutrition Services
